Fashion is not something that existed in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, the street. Fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening -Coco Chanel

Brogues, Glorious Brogues!

At the moment these are the only shoes I wear. They go with almost everything. Okay, I'm lying...THEY GO WITH EVERTHING. They are so comfy and super classy. You can dress em up or down. Bring back the oxford sole and school girl look!

Elizabeth Bennett

Today I am inspired by Elizabeth Bennett's effortless elegance in Jane Austen's timeless classic Pride and Predjudice. I have decided to read the novel as the movies happen to be some of my favourites and I was suprised that I didn't drop it after a few pages.

Keira Knightly and her pursed lips are the perfect candidate for this role. She portrays 1800's fashion perfectly. Empire waistlines are back whether you like them or not and ruffles. Oh dear sweet peaches ruffles. If I could ruffle everything I would. Those 1800 fashion gurus wore ruffles, and they wore them good. But they also pulled off plain and simple. For the daytime they dressed simply. Simple was better. I suppose they were lugging pails of water around and milking cows but boy did they look good doing it.
I often find myself wishing I could go back in time and live in Jane Austens time. We need to go back in time.

Kudos to Oscar

Wowee, wow, wow! Well aren't we all loving Oscar de la Renta's RTW 2011 Spring Collection. de la Renta has once again marvelled on his sophisticated approach to dressing woman with beautiful pastels. I love pastels. For a while everyone was into these retro-bright-I've-just-come-from-a-lumo-party colours but Oscar has stuck to his roots. Every piece of this collection is absolutely breathtaking and caters for every occasion whether it's an art opening at The Met or your vacation in Morocco. He has thrown in the occasional piece that screams colour. I'm sure he simply couldn't resist. Florals are also big at the moment and de la Renta has fashioned them into beautiful garments by using them in a non-cliche way.

Props to you Mr. de la Renta. You have my respect.
